2.2: Prepare a Multi-Sequence Data Set - Overview

MEMORANDUM

To: BIP Interns
From: BIP Project Leader
Subject: Prepare a multi-sequence data set for use in alignments and phylogeny studies

As a member of a team when you return to your University Center and research labs, I expect that you will find you will use the skills and experience that you acquired here to help on a number of research projects.   In this task, you will use the search methods that you used in the last task to obtain a set of sequences.  Then, you will prepare a FASTA formatted sequence file for use in later tasks.

You can work in a small team to prepare a multi-sequence data set, in the proper format, for use in alignments and phylogeny studies. Many of the sequence analysis and comparison tools that are used in bioinformatics require that sequences be in specific format called the "FASTA" format.  Useful background about FASTA is in Resources for this subtask.  Your deliverable is the formatted file.

Good luck!
