Task 6: Mentor Guide
The Task Assignment
If other faculty members are going to teach this course,
you may want to devote time to creating a Mentor’s Guide to orient
them to this style of teaching, in general, and to this course, in
particular.
You may also want to create a formal process for orienting new
faculty. There are no hard-and-fast rules to creating such a Mentor’s
Guide; perhaps it is best to think in terms of creating the material
that you would want were you brought in to teach a course developed
by another faculty member. To assist you, we have provided a number
of readings, sample Mentor’s Guides, and a sample orientation
process in the Resources section of this site.
After the material is drafted, it should be reviewed,
and then the course author(s) will produce a final draft.
