1.1: Air Quality -- Overview

Memorandum

To: Environmental Activist Team
From: Project Manager
Subject: Air Quality Research

We’ll focus on air quality for starters.  Have a look at the laundry list of agencies, organizations, programs and projects I’ve provided for you in the Requirements – all of which would have a presence on the Web.  Please choose a few to investigate so that we’ll have good reference notes, as well of a summary of findings.

You should be able to identify some knowledgeable persons through the websites.  An interview would really bring to life the issues and provide the color we’ll need for articles/media about air quality and environmental injustice. Working in teams of two would be fine.  But each of you individually – as we often do at Green Health – should write a short piece on how the information you’ve gathered relates to you, your family or community.

Please look at the Requirements to get more detail on exactly what we want here.

Just to clarify, your deliverables are:

  • Notes from your research – info and facts in your words or properly cited
  • Interview with a person of authority from the organization or project.
  • A summary (one page is fine) on gathered info and your interview
  • Notes on the relationship between air quality and respiratory health.
  • One paragraph summary on how this info relates to you, your family, and/or society.

Remember - if this is the topic your team will present as an oral report, complete the requirements in the Advocacy: Air, Water, & Food Tasks & Assignments instead of the written report.

Good luck!
