bonsai evergreen GreenHealth: an environmental activist organization

1.4: Advocacy: Air, Water, & Food -- Overview

Memorandum

To: Environmental Activist Team
From: Project Manager
Subject: Upcoming Advocacy Campaign

Taking into account everything you’ve learned in your field work, your team should plan on meeting with the senior advocacy and editorial teams to make recommendations about both media and advocacy campaigns that GreenHealth should undertake.  Since global warming is on the front burner with the public and politicians, your recommendations can focus on the information campaign and legislative advocacy that mitigates the impacts of how food is grown, processed and distributed in this country. The advocacy recommendation can include local or National policy around air, water or food – its production, distribution and consumption.  Or your team can focus on food choices as they relate to the health of people and environment.

Whatever informational campaign and policy advocacy you recommend, it must be for compelling reasons they’ll want to hear.  Be prepared to justify your recommendations.  Since financial resources are always an issue, you’ll need to consider costs when you recommend government action that we should advocate be adopted.  Your team may need to do some additional research on the relationship between environmental quality and policy.

Good luck!   GreenHealth’s senior people are collecting input from a number of group’s, but your work definitely will influence our direction in the next year.
