Tools for Design Analysis
and Performing Tests |
Good job at the preliminary design review! I think it would
be useful to you at this point to use some computer tools in your
analysis of your design – in order to perform mathematical
calculations, and to write functions to help in analyzing data. You’ve
already used Excel. Please have a look at two cases using
MATLAB that are good examples, and try doing the analysis relevant
to your robot design that I’ve detailed in your requirements.
Also do the necessary test engineering – in order to figure
out what works, you’ll need to experiment with parts. Perform
component and system tests. Experiment with motors/servos and
the computer interface in order to gather information for what modifications
and capabilities are available, or you will need, to add to your
robot. Do some thinking about how you test wheel motor’s
speed and power. How much can a servo lift/push or turn?
Please document the issues that arise in testing and the results
in your Engineering logbook.

A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law [Third Law of Robotics].
